How does CSHI and VMI work?
In Kazakhstan, the CSHI is mandatory for all citizens located on the territory of the republic. Health insurance costs are covered by insurance premiums paid by employers and citizens. Both employees and other socially vulnerable segments of the population are eligible for MHI, for example: children under 18, the unemployed, pregnant women, raising a child (children) under the age of 3; disabled people, veterans, etc. In addition, contributions to the CSHI can be made from both the employer and the employee. The percentage of insurance premiums is determined by law and may vary depending on the income and status of the policyholder. For example, employers make deductions for an employee in the amount of 3% of wages, while employees and employees providing services on the basis of a GPH contract make contributions to the CSHI in the amount of 2% of their monthly income.
Insured persons have the right to receive medical services in public and private medical institutions that have signed contracts with the CSHI system. The CSHI usually covers the costs of medical services such as doctor visits, medications, tests, surgeries and hospitalization.
In comparison with CSHI, voluntary medical insurance (VMI) provided by Kazakhmys IC is a type of personal insurance that allows you to receive additional and expanded medical services beyond the guaranteed volume of free medical care and in the CSHI system. The VMI was introduced in the form of a social package from the employer and is fully compensated by the insurance company.
According to the VMI, the insured person is provided with the following types of medical care:
1) Outpatient care, home care;
2) Inpatient medical care;
3) Emergency medical care;
4) Rehabilitation and rehabilitation treatment;
5) as well as covering expenses or providing services provided for by an individual insurance program.
Thus, the insured person has the right to receive medical care provided for in the contract and paid for by the Insurer, as well as reimbursement of medical expenses.
